I updated the website section of our slide deck for our Sat-Apr-23 “Getting More Customers” workshop (early bird still open for another day at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/getting-more-customers-on-april-23-2016-tickets-22226613399) and came up with this cheat sheet for free website tools.
Check spelling http://www.checkdog.com/ The free version is a good quick check, the paid version allows you to add your own dictionary (useful when you have specialized vocabulary or nomenclature on your site).
Check your page rank and inbound links

Add Google Analytics http://www.google.com/analytics/ You can use this to determine popular pages, where visitors are spending time and where you visitors are coming from.
Add Google Webmaster tools https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/home This allows you to understand what problems Google is having crawling your site.
Check your page load times and usability https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/ The Google Speed test allows you to get a free evaluation of your page loading times and usability for both desktop and mobile versions of your site. Page load times are now a factor in where your pages rank in search results and is worth paying attention to if your ratings are below 50.
