• Feasibility Study of a Novel Glucose Measurement Device

Situation: The product developer had a unique idea for measuring Blood Glucose levels. It was based on a previous concept they were familiar with. They were also very familiar with developing a Medical Device, but they had little familiarity with electronic design. They wanted to test the feasibility of the new concept.

Solution: This design ideally would focus on a design that would be demonstrable to investors. In this case, there was to be a minimum of electronic engineering needed to test the concept. It also was to have a small footprint to show investors the concept.

A systems approach to the solution was created, and the necessary circuits were designed and fabricated, along with easily purchased electronics.

Results: The system was designed and built to allow the testing to take place. The client is currently working to discover the validity of the new methodology.

Here are some examples of development projects I have worked on in the past:

• Product: Electrified Motorcycle Jacket

Situation: The product developer was located at a remote location and needed to gain experience in developing an electronic product. Their concept was to develop a Motorcycle jacket that lit an array of LEDs on the back of the rider to give added visibility to the rider's status. It displayed the turn signals, and braking to drivers following them.

Solution: The product was developed that detected the turn signal and brake signals and wirelessly transmitted them to the electronic LED array drivers.

Results: The jacket and its companion electronics were developed, successfully demonstrating its operation and introducing it to the market. The demonstration also allowed the client to file for a patent on the concept formally.

• Product: Special Purpose Bathroom Scale

Situation: The client was a seasoned manager who wanted to develop a bathroom scale that weighed the user using a unique methodology and displayed it to the user.

Solution: The scale was developed to utilize electronic and mechanical engineering to create a demonstration model suitable for showing the feasibility of the unique measurement method and to show potential investors to raise capital for making a high-volume consumer product.

Results: The scale was successfully developed and shown to potential early investors.
