Membership Categories

Affiliate:

Designed for individual consultants who do not wish to have a full listing in the PATCA online directory or participate in the Post-a-Project Referral Service. Affiliates enjoy all the other privileges of membership, including: access to members-only content; member pricing on PATCA events (when offered); Member-to-Member email communications concerning PATCA and the business of consulting; credibility with clients from a professional association membership. Affiliates may not vote in general elections, hold an elective office, chair a committee, or receive client referrals. They are listed in the Directory by name and contact information only.

Annual dues for Affiliates: $50


 Member:

Designed for persons seeking to become Certified Professional Consultant Members.  Members need to provide three professional references to enter this category. As a Member, your rights, privileges and services include: client leads through PATCA’s Post a Project client referral system; full listing in PATCA’s online Searchable Member Directory; Mentor Program for newer consultants; online access to members-only knowledge base; legislative updates; participation in annual consulting rates and practices survey; discounts on PATCA dinner meetings, seminars, mixers, and other events; preferential pricing and discounts on certain services offered to PATCA members (health, insurance, marketing, books, office supplies and technology); one vote at all PATCA membership meetings and in all elections; Member-to-Member email communications concerning PATCA and the business of consulting; volunteering, holding elective office and participating in or chairing a committee.

Annual dues for Members: $150


Certified Professional Consultant (CPC):

Designed for full-time consultants who have been practicing for at least one year prior to the time of application, or for at least three out of the six years prior to application and who intend to continue in the practice of consulting. As a Certified Professional Consultant Member, your rights, privileges and services include: client leads through PATCA’s Post a Project client referral system; full listing in PATCA’s online Searchable Member Directory; Mentor Program for newer consultants; online access to members-only knowledge base; legislative updates; participation in annual consulting rates and practices survey; discounts on PATCA dinner meetings, seminars, mixers, and other events; preferential pricing and discounts on certain services offered to PATCA members (health, insurance, marketing, books, office supplies and technology); one vote at all PATCA membership meetings and in all elections; Member-to-Member email communications concerning PATCA and the business of consulting; volunteering, holding elective office and participating in or chairing a committee.

All CPC (Certified Professional Consultant) members must satisfy and provide acceptable evidence of the following criteria:
  • Must sign a pledge to adhere to PATCA Code of Ethics.
  • Must have at least 3 paying consulting references.
  • Professional or Industry Certification or License in a Specialty if such certification or license is the norm for that professional/industry specialty.
  • Must pay all required membership fees and annual dues.
  • Hold a minimum Bachelors Degree from an accredited College or University or have specialized training and experience which qualifies consultant to practice in their specialty.
In addition to the above, CPC members must satisfy and provide acceptable evidence of at least three (3) of the following additional criteria:
  • Maintain a Business Website or Significant Web presence.
  • Have Federal Business EIN Number.
  • Hold a Business License when required by the municipality governing the consultant’s place of business.
  • Maintain a business phone number.
  • Fictitious Business Name and/or Incorporation unless operating under own name.
  • Maintain a business specific email address.

Annual dues for Certified Professional Consultants: $150


Senior Certified Professional Consultant (SCPC):

An individual elected by the PATCA Board of Directors who has been a full-time practicing consultant and Certified Professional Consultant member of PATCA for at least five years, and who has demonstrated dedication to the consulting profession. Applicants for this status submit five client references, which are verified prior to approval. Contact PATCA Office for application.

All SCPC (Senior Certified Professional Consultant) members must satisfy and provide acceptable evidence of the following criteria:
  • Must satisfy all of the above CPC criteria.
  • Must have 2 additional paying consulting references
  • Must have been a CPC, Full or Senior member of PATCA for at least 5 years.
  • Must demonstrate a significant commitment and contributions to the consulting profession (which can be satisfied by volunteering at least 40 hours on PATCA or other professional consulting organization boards or committees; lecturing or leading seminars and/or workshops on various aspects of or of interest to those operating a professional consulting practice; other special projects or criteria pre-authorized by the PATCA board on a case by case basis.)

Annual dues for Senior Certified Professional Consultants: $150


Company:

Available to groups of consultants (e.g. organizations, corporations, proprietorships or partnerships). A group of Cerntified Professional Consulants may qualify for membership as a Company Member. Brokers, or broker like companies, may not be company members.

Annual dues for a Company Membership are set at a minimum of $300, which covers the listing of up to two individuals. There is an additional fee of $117 for each “listed” individual beyond two. There are no other fees associated with company membership.


Additional Categories to Honor our Distinguished Members:

Certified Professional Consultant Fellow:

An individual elected by the PATCA Board of Directors who has demonstrated unique competence in consulting, or who has made significant contributions to the consulting profession or to the development of PATCA.

Lifetime Certified Professional Consultant:

In 1997, Dennis Paul and Roger Dorr were awarded lifetime Certified Professional Consultant memberships in recognition of their unique contribution as the founders of PATCA.

Emeritus Certified Professional Consultant:

An individual who has been a PATCA Certified Professional Consultant for eight continuous years before retiring from consulting, and who wishes to remain active in the association and to continue volunteering their services. Emeritus members are reviewed annually and must be approved by the PATCA Board of Directors.
